My life is something you read
About in an in-flight magazine
My life is something you say
To someone who hates you
You want to get them off of your chest
I studied acting, but my mother wouldn’t have it
I made a new commercial but nobody ever saw it
I acted in a pilot and the damn thing got rejected
And now I’m in New York cause it’s what everyone expected of me
My girl is someone you meet
When she’s selling you weed
She often tells me I’m useless
I’m getting so used to it
Could be it’s more than she meant.
I was born in California it's a lyrical place
I didn’t learn to write so I learned to erase
The ones you leave behind are a couple sunny pictures
I eat my meals alone and somehow they’re still delicious
And I mark the days
On the side of my cave
My life is something you read
About in an in-flight magazine
My life is something you say
To someone who hates you
You want to get them off of your chest
I studied electricity to make my mother happy
I told my girl I loved her and she started laughing
I sent a couple poems in and they were all rejected
And now I’m in New York cause it’s what everyone expected of me
